Figham Springs

Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire

2007 - 2010

Nestled just south of Beverley Minster, we created this contemporary extension providing a light filled sun lounge to an existing 1980's estate house, dissolving the barrier between the client's tranquil japanese garden and the renovated core of the house holding a living space and new kitchen.

Each gable end of the extension was glazed providing new views north to the minster whilst also filling the lounge with light. The link to the garden was maximised through a wall of sliding glass doors achieving a seamless flow between the house and the garden.

Bricks were harvested, restored and reused from the dwelling walls, ensuring material continuity whilst lowering the material cost and environmental impact of the project.
