With panoramic views over the rolling Chilterns landscape, this radically high-performance eco-home provides an extremely advanced standard of living whilst maintaining the vernacular rural character of the village of Stoke Row.

A highly innovative building system of polystyrene sandwich blocks was used in this family home’s construction, which achieved an energy performance certificate rating of 96/100 and a U value of 0.11 W/m²K.

An external skin of finely coarsed, locally sourced brickwork wraps the building with knapped flint infill panels echoing local vernacular construction.

The home was orientated to maximise natural lighting, passive environmental strategies of thermal mass & passive stack and cross ventilation whilst also incorporating a sophisticated mechanical ventilation heat recovery system maintaining optimal temperature and ventilation levels throughout the dwelling.
